Moe Choy Chicago! is Billy’s entry in the annual members’ only Art in the City exhibition at the Arts Council, 318 Main Street (812/422-2111), which is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm through June 26, 2014. This is the latest in a series of story paintings Billy has completed in the past year. These pictures, mostly commissioned, range from mural size to small diptychs. They go beyond Billy’s traditional architectural portraits by incorporating clues about the lives lived in those buildings. The third-floor apartment above Moe Choy was Billy’s home and studio for many years. Family pets and friends can be seen looking out and books line the windowsill of the downstairs neighbor. The painting also is one of an ongoing series of pictures called “My Chicago,” all of which are for sale at the Arts Council at moderate prices.
