Every picture tells a story

Ed Rhodes memorial painting by Billy Hedel 2016

This picture is a recent commission.  It commemorates the life of a family friend and is an example of Billy’s ‘story painting.’  This one is small, only 24 x 18″ but is jam-packed with references to Ed’s life story – his family, career, hobbies and passions.

Other story paintings, such as this one which hangs in the reception office at HOPE of Evansville in the Walker Building, are mural size.
